SpookySwap Development Update #1

Spooky Swap
4 min readMay 1, 2021

Now that the initial marathon of updates and development to get SpookySwap phase 1.5 and phase 2.0 of launch completed, our SpookySwap team will begin posting the progress on our long term roadmap. From our documentation you can see that the main features we’re interested in adding to SpookySwap are, in rough order of priority:

  • Snapshot Governance
  • Limit orders
  • User dashboard/portfolio
  • Full expert trading platform with trading charts and order history built in and less restrictive warnings of slippage and price impact
  • Deploying BOO to Ethereum (possibly more) to enable bridging through multichain.xyz
  • On-chain governance, full fledged DAO. The ultimate goal is to transfer ownership of the farm contract to the DAO contract
  • Launchpad platform
  • NFT platform

Since creating our documentation, we’re happy to see that the Fantom NFT space has grown significantly thanks to Zoo, SuperFarm, and BitGem. DEX development for Fantom has seen the value of the FTM token increase significantly, as the Fantom Opera ecosystem continues to grow. Based on community feedback, the other highly requested features are to incorporate limit orders into swap prices, listing BOO to multiple data aggregators websites, and governance. We’ve also created Blockfolio votes for our token and exchange. We have also applied to be listed on Coingecko.

Outside of our roadmap items, our team has also begun developing our different outreach programs to get more users and developers interested and invested in Fantom Opera. A major tenant of our long term plan is to continue to promote Fantom Opera and projects that bring users to Fantom Foundation, and three possible avenues of accomplishing that goal are our Twitter International Outreach, Twitter Airdrops, and Build On Opera (BOO) Grants.

Twitter International Outreach:
We’ve been paying attention to the preferred languages of the followers we attract, and recently SpookySwap has been fortunate to have a few international mods reach out to help with translation of our documentation and announcements, as well as getting us in touch with twitter accounts that could help with international DeFi growth. We’ve been encouraging our international moderators to create unofficial social platforms that are convenient for their community, which has caused less activity in the international channels of our discord but allows Fantom news to spread more easily to non-English speaking crypto enthusiasts.

If you’re interested in becoming an international moderator, or if you know of potential international community members who would be able to promote Fantom/SpookySwap, please reach out to our development team in our Discord server.

Twitter Airdrops:
We’ve just announced in parallel with our development update a Twitter giveaway airdrop for #SpookyArt. Our goal is to encourage several artists in our Discord to participate as well as members of the Fantom NFT community to show enthusiasm for not only SpookySwap but the growth of Fantom Opera as a whole.

While some Twitter contests and raffles have the primary focus of growing follower count, we wanted to make sure our contests were easy to spread to crypto enthusiasts who are not currently invested in the Fantom blockchain. The team decided the best way to accomplish our goal was through Fantom-centric hashtags that would reach users who may not currently have funds on Fantom, but through seeing the excitement or information shown in our contest submissions would become interested or participate in Fantom.

While our first Twitter airdrop focuses on professional artists or active NFT artists, our upcoming competitions will cater towards users who produce viral images (i.e. memes) and useful infographics or informative threads. Our three planned Twitter airdrops will be spread out to continue to build excitement in Fantom, as well as to ensure they’re timed well with upcoming Fantom Opera developments, such as cross-chain support for the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

Build On Opera (BOO) Grants:
BOO Grants will be a monthly event to help other developers on Fantom Opera. This has been included in our tokenomics since launch without much detail, since SpookySwap will use the BOO token for governance when determining the recipient of BOO grants. More details on BOO Grants will be included in a separate Medium post, to be published shortly after governance goes live.

2.0% of the Total Supply for BOO Grants

Conclusion:
The next 6 weeks will be focused on expanding twitter outreach through contests and international accounts while our development focuses on long term objectives such as incorporating limit orders. Our short term goals of updating our analytics page following the Go-Opera update, a landing page, biography page, and additional metrics displayed for our Farm page have been completed or are close to completion in response to community feedback. Our focus is going to shift from short term improvements to continuing our roadmap development.

Our next development update can be expected on Medium by mid-May, and will update our community on the progress made in limit orders, the upcoming audit, and a reflection on the completed art contest.

Stay Spooky!
